ELKHART - The
Elkhart Historical Society is
delighted to announce an
extraordinary “lunch and lecture”
program for mothers on Saturday, May
7th, 2016-- at Horsefeathers Wild
Hare Café in Elkhart- - “What the
Well Dressed Mother Wore in the
1800’s,” to be presented by Nancy
Torgerson of Forsyth, well-known
historic interpreter, teacher,
author, clothing consultant to
museums, and 19th century custom
tailor and dressmaker.
|
Her
accurate and occasionally humorous
portrayal of the layers required of
the “best dressed” mothers of
society will make you thankful to be
in the 21th century. Men are welcome
to bring their mothers, and may get
some insight as to the extremes and
equipment required to have an 18”
waist.
A special menu of spring salad with
chicken and strawberries
vinaigrette, or chicken pot pie and
salad, each with grilled artisan
bread and scrumptious dessert of
meringue served with chocolate
mousse and berries is offered.
